Chapter One: Play Something For Me
He weaved through the wafting jazz music, his mothers screaming sorority friends, Timberlys incessant chatter and the lavender with sea green streamers and shut the door with a rather soft click to settle himself on the front stoop of his brownstone. He knew today would be hectic but the noise was getting to him. Gerald could barely hear himself think much less speak in the crowded Johansen home. There was a slight craving for an old habit past that he had to tap down, a habit that he picked up from none other than Helga Pataki. He kicked at the air and scoffed to himself at the thought of her name.

The girl sat beside him and he found himself hard pressed not to stare at her. She was a carbon copy of one of the older women in the house with his parents now. Tall, slender and yet endowedhe found himself trying not to stare at her chest. The low cut shirt made it even harder but his best friend had rubbed off on him somewhat so he refocused on her face. She was beautiful. Endless caramel skin and hypnotizing brown eyes that seemed to pierce through his own. He absently twirled with the watch Phoebe gave him one birthday some years ago. Fingered the red 33 on the strap as this girl chattered about his mom and (from what he managed to gather) her mom and their sorority yells.
